Can happiness exist without money?

"Money can't buy happiness, but it sure is better to cry in a BMW than on a bicycle". Two truths, one lie: I have brown eyes, I am in 12 AP and I am definitely not a cynical person, who believes that happiness requires money/ material goods. I am sure we can all now figure out where I stand.

Now it is seriously debatable if the ending of 'Little Miss Sunshine' was happy, sad or something in the middle. On one hand none of the people got their dreams true, and not all of them even survived ( my dude Edwin knew what beauty pageants were like and OD'd himself).

But...but..but they are all together, they are Hakuna Matata-ing and slowly becoming less dysfunctional! Family sticks together, and they know that now, doesn't that count?

I mean I guess? But how long are they actually gonna stick together? How long before Richard falls into another motivational speaker fantasy (cause lets be honest the only thing he motivates me to do, is smack him with his book)? How long before Olive fails at another thing, and loses her naivety?

The truth is that the end of the movie that we saw, was filled caused by heightened emotions and adrenaline from their escape and their remaining blaze of glory, and unfortunately heightened emotional behaviour does not equate to normal day behaviour.

A lot of problems the Hoover's had could have been solved with money. I know this sounds superficial and Gatsby of me, but it's the truth. Money solves problems.

First of all Sheryl wouldn't have to be an overworked mom, with an unreliable husband. She could have afforded to let Frank stay at the hospital for a few days longer. Maybe if she wasn't so overworked she would've noticed Dwayne's colour blindness (this is a bit of a stretch but eh). They could've simply flown to California instead of going on the road trip (of course the trip helped them 'discover' themselves, but it caused a lot of problems). Richard would have the money to afford publicity and advertising his book. We can go on for a long time, about how Frank probably wouldn't have tried to commit suicide because his boyfriend wouldn't need someone else as a sugar daddy (of course we are ignoring the unhealthy dynamics and stuff but that's fine).

Also did anyone mention the bill for repairing the hotel barriers they broke, cause I don't think the hotel would let them get off scot free. Plus the hotel is an expensive one, so they are going to really charge a pretty penny for it.

Honestly at this point I don't really know what I am writing. I read the title and I guess my post is somewhat relevant.

Well then, happiness cannot exist without money, because we are all driven by money and money takes care of problems. In the wise words of Ariana Grande (I can't believe I am doing this)

Whoever said money can't solve your problems
Must not have had enough money to solve 'em

Poetry and why it's Relevant

Everyone I have spoken to (the five other people I talk to on a regular basis) about poetry and their thoughts about it, have in so many words expressed the same idea, poetry is overrated. This made me wonder how poetry is still relevant. From my (very biased, and skewed) sample it is obvious that people don’t really like poetry. Now from personal experience I can say that I thought of poetry as an unnecessary middle ground between stories and songs ( alliterations, they’re perfect). Cause like you get the whole narrative that you get in stories, but you have to add a rhyme scheme and rhythm to it, and then add hidden meanings. AND ALL THIS IS IN 5 STANZAS. Now I have changed a lot of my opinions this year, and poetry has been one of those. Poetry because of its position as a middle ground has the capability to express deep and complex meanings in a few words. It expresses emotions that a story might express in 1000 words, and with a smaller word range each word emphasizes the overall...

I Put a Spell on You

Background Music  Magic tricks have always fascinated me. I know they are optical illusions, however, it’s always fun to enter a show and be prepared to figure out the magician’s secrets. Of course, I have always failed at that, and I’d have to be told (usually in a condescending tone) about the obvious trick. Despite my lack of comprehension with simple optical illusions, there is one illusion that I have figured out: freedom. Humans as a species love the idea of freedom, especially freedom in perceptions and ideologies. However, freedom like every magic trick is just an illusion; when looked at deep enough we come to the realization that outside factors are always influencing us. These factors do not just appear in our life, they are almost always sources of manipulation, set by people in authority. Most humans inherently look for someone to lead or guide them, the ones that don’t become the leaders and guiders. The leaders are charismatic beings who have an innate capability...

Poetry 2

So poetry right? It’s fun and interesting and everything until you have to sit down and analyze a poem about the Titanic which is apparently structured like the Titanic. Cheers to all the poets out there, cause that’s exactly what I needed in my life, more things to analyze.  (‘Life’ ‘analyze’ do those two rhyme? Sounds like it. Eh I digress) In my last post I tried to be all intellectual and find out why poetry is still so relevant in our society, and I came up with this theory that poetry works well because it’s the grey area between novels and songs, and so you get the best of both worlds. But still I mean it’s not necessary for a poet to ensnare and confuse me with twisted riddles when all they want to say is ‘pay attention to what you’re doing, people can trick you’. Like yeah Mr. Olive Senior I know that, but because of you I now have to write an essay on that. Like proper using words and coherent sentences.  (I wonder though, what would happen if I answered a poe...
