' I am not a racist' starters quotes

      " I don't see color"
"Racism isn't as bad as it was"

These are some of the most common things people (most commonly white people) say when the topic of racism is brought up. Now I am sure these people don't mean to be, kinda you know,  racist, so I'm gonna do them a favor and break down these statements and show how they are actually no bueno.
(p.s I'm using google translate, forgive me if translations are horrible)
цифра one: Everyone sees color. I feel like people have started to get the misconception that noticing that a person is from a minority is equivalent to discriminating against them. That's wrong, all you're really doing is undermining the trials that the entire culture has gone through. What you're essentially is saying that " hey guess what the only way you will get treated equally is if someone is blind and therefore, is unable to marginalize you on the basis of how much melanin your skin produces' while the true sentiment should be ' I see color and I still treat everyone equally' cause guess what, that is common sense. Everyone is human. Let's worry about treating all humans equally and not erasing their entire heritage in order to establish some weak form of 'equality'.
नम्बर two:  This is just so absurd that it is funny. Guess what people who say this? Wifi isn't as bad as it was, but still every time it stops we crib. Cause why stop at good wifi that malfunctions some times, let's just fix it so it works great anywhere, anytime. Exactly. We can't just stop because there is no full out de jure racism. Because while slavery is illegal, it is still apparent in the South, plantations closed to become prisons which holds mostly- you guessed it- African American people. Before, I divert again, just why is it necessary for people to say racism isn't as bad, so what is it is not as bad, the fact that it still exists is bad. There is not line, like '0.5 units of racism is fine, but 0.8 is too much' any racism is bad.
So I used a few different languages except English to show how many variations there are in the world, and how we should embrace them, because at the end of the day we are all human and deserve to be respected. Also because when the aliens come we need to be united in order to protect ourselves

  1. Nice calling out on the bs of those quotes (haha exposed). I liked that you used those different languages to showcase the different cultures there are in the world. We should appreciate all race/culture. A great call-to-action conclusion.

  2. I really liked how you said any kind of racism is bad- whether it be 0.5 or 0.8%, like a bad imitation of another race's accent or a joke. We all need to respect and treat everyone equally, without erasing their culture/heritage. I really love this post!

  3. I really liked how you analyzed the common quotes said in response to racism. They really show that even if we deny that racism exists today, it doesn't change the fact that it is very prevalent in our society. Diversity is something that makes up America and every race and culture should be appreciated because each group brings contributes something unique to society. Everyone should have equal opportunities and nobody should be discriminated because of who they are.

Poetry and why it's Relevant

Everyone I have spoken to (the five other people I talk to on a regular basis) about poetry and their thoughts about it, have in so many words expressed the same idea, poetry is overrated. This made me wonder how poetry is still relevant. From my (very biased, and skewed) sample it is obvious that people don’t really like poetry. Now from personal experience I can say that I thought of poetry as an unnecessary middle ground between stories and songs ( alliterations, they’re perfect). Cause like you get the whole narrative that you get in stories, but you have to add a rhyme scheme and rhythm to it, and then add hidden meanings. AND ALL THIS IS IN 5 STANZAS. Now I have changed a lot of my opinions this year, and poetry has been one of those. Poetry because of its position as a middle ground has the capability to express deep and complex meanings in a few words. It expresses emotions that a story might express in 1000 words, and with a smaller word range each word emphasizes the overall...

I Put a Spell on You

Background Music  Magic tricks have always fascinated me. I know they are optical illusions, however, it’s always fun to enter a show and be prepared to figure out the magician’s secrets. Of course, I have always failed at that, and I’d have to be told (usually in a condescending tone) about the obvious trick. Despite my lack of comprehension with simple optical illusions, there is one illusion that I have figured out: freedom. Humans as a species love the idea of freedom, especially freedom in perceptions and ideologies. However, freedom like every magic trick is just an illusion; when looked at deep enough we come to the realization that outside factors are always influencing us. These factors do not just appear in our life, they are almost always sources of manipulation, set by people in authority. Most humans inherently look for someone to lead or guide them, the ones that don’t become the leaders and guiders. The leaders are charismatic beings who have an innate capability...

Poetry 2

So poetry right? It’s fun and interesting and everything until you have to sit down and analyze a poem about the Titanic which is apparently structured like the Titanic. Cheers to all the poets out there, cause that’s exactly what I needed in my life, more things to analyze.  (‘Life’ ‘analyze’ do those two rhyme? Sounds like it. Eh I digress) In my last post I tried to be all intellectual and find out why poetry is still so relevant in our society, and I came up with this theory that poetry works well because it’s the grey area between novels and songs, and so you get the best of both worlds. But still I mean it’s not necessary for a poet to ensnare and confuse me with twisted riddles when all they want to say is ‘pay attention to what you’re doing, people can trick you’. Like yeah Mr. Olive Senior I know that, but because of you I now have to write an essay on that. Like proper using words and coherent sentences.  (I wonder though, what would happen if I answered a poe...
