Who is to blame?

What is it that Guitar truly wants to accomplish? He starts at the beginning of the novel as a racially aware character, someone aware of the racial prejudice against black people, but as the plot continued Guitar went from being aware to militant. He decided to take matters in his own hand- and while this isn't necessarily bad- he went about it the wrong way. In this time period there were many groups of racial equality seekers who were able to accomplish their goals without purposely killing others. Guitar states that his aggressive behavior is a result of his love for his community, however he contradicts himself which debunks his fallacy.
Let's be frank, Guitar's claim that he joined a ridiculous militant group, and kills people who have done nothing is a result of his love for black people is, in kind words, not true. When he first presented the idea of killing people to maintain a sort of 'balance' admit it everyone thought there was something was wrong with him. Guitar is very racist in his thoughts- innocent black men don't deserve to die, however, innocent white men are all bad and if given the opportunity, will kill, so why not kill them now kill them now.
He states that black women are raped and if you're wondering how one delivers justice for that, it's by raping an innocent white woman. He contradicts his sentiments regarding slavery by directly staking a claim on black women and has no clear stream of consciousness. He jumps from one claim to another, and in that process contradicts himself, which is not a good foundation for a persuasive essay.
In my opinion, Guitar doesn't know what he wants. He knows he doesn't have power, and he knows that it is difficult for him to achieve what he wants (he is named after something he wanted, but couldn't achieve), but at the same time he has no one person or group to blame. Yes, whites have been oppressing his kind, but at the same time his best friend, who is a black person, is not facing the same problems he is. So is it his fault, is it his status, is it his race? The most obvious would be racial issues and that is why he obsesses over it, to the point of madness.

Poetry and why it's Relevant

Everyone I have spoken to (the five other people I talk to on a regular basis) about poetry and their thoughts about it, have in so many words expressed the same idea, poetry is overrated. This made me wonder how poetry is still relevant. From my (very biased, and skewed) sample it is obvious that people don’t really like poetry. Now from personal experience I can say that I thought of poetry as an unnecessary middle ground between stories and songs ( alliterations, they’re perfect). Cause like you get the whole narrative that you get in stories, but you have to add a rhyme scheme and rhythm to it, and then add hidden meanings. AND ALL THIS IS IN 5 STANZAS. Now I have changed a lot of my opinions this year, and poetry has been one of those. Poetry because of its position as a middle ground has the capability to express deep and complex meanings in a few words. It expresses emotions that a story might express in 1000 words, and with a smaller word range each word emphasizes the overall...

I Put a Spell on You

Background Music  Magic tricks have always fascinated me. I know they are optical illusions, however, it’s always fun to enter a show and be prepared to figure out the magician’s secrets. Of course, I have always failed at that, and I’d have to be told (usually in a condescending tone) about the obvious trick. Despite my lack of comprehension with simple optical illusions, there is one illusion that I have figured out: freedom. Humans as a species love the idea of freedom, especially freedom in perceptions and ideologies. However, freedom like every magic trick is just an illusion; when looked at deep enough we come to the realization that outside factors are always influencing us. These factors do not just appear in our life, they are almost always sources of manipulation, set by people in authority. Most humans inherently look for someone to lead or guide them, the ones that don’t become the leaders and guiders. The leaders are charismatic beings who have an innate capability...

Why Realism is boring

Today I would like to tell everyone a secret, a secret I have quite frankly hidden for a great part of my life. I am secretly very, very , fond of rom-coms. They’re just amazing, with like a no-brainer plot, a bit of angst, tons of fluff and all of that wrapped in an assured happy ending. Who doesn’t like that. I don’t know about others but usually when I watch a movie, I watch it because it’s fun and it’s something different. No one watches a movie to learn stuff, you watch a documentary for that (also they are boring (for some reason David Attenborough doesn’t fit this but whatever)). Realism is this idea of taking real life experiences and having people watch that real thing for some intellectual purpose. Well the thing is I don’t really fancy getting out my life of being a high schooler (real stressful I know), to watch a movie about the realities of poverty or what nor. I want a movie with drama, and useless dialogue so that I don’t have to use my brain. Is that too much to ask? N...
